The X-Small 1-Door Trap is a great option for small rodents and other mammals. The trigger is sensitive enough to react to even the lightest steps, and the steel construction makes the trap sturdy and safe for both the animal and for you!

Note: this trap is too large for mice, voles, and shrews. For these species, we suggest live mouse traps.

Setting Instructions

  • First, press the door lock against the door.

  • Partially lift the door, then turn the trigger rod out at a 45° from the trap body.

  • Lift the door higher and turn the trigger rod back towards the trap. The end of the rod near the front of the trap should sit under the small metal lip on the door.

  • Rotate the trigger plate so that it gently holds the back end of the trigger rod in place.

    That’s it, you’re all set!

Baiting Instructions and Suggestions

For this trap, bait should be placed on and behind the trigger plate. Bait will depend on the species and situation, but here’s a few suggestions:

Fox Squirrels, Chipmunks, and Ground Squirrels:

  • Peanuts/peanut butter

  • Apples

  • Sunflower seeds

  • Popcorn

  • Bacon

  • Dried fruit

Rats

  • Peanut butter

  • Berries
