Education Team

Education Volunteers serve as essential contributors to our mission by fostering public awareness and understanding of wildlife and coexistence. Their roles are multifaceted and involve engaging with visitors, schools, and community groups to impart knowledge about local wildlife, humane solutions, and the critical role our center plays in their conservation.

Things to Know Before Volunteering

  • Education volunteers are required to dedicate a minimum of 8 hours per month.

    • Hours can be earned through ambassador animal care, programs and events, and classes.

    • Two, 1-hour Ambassador care shifts are required each month, and are counted towards the hours requirements.

  • Education Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age or older.

  • No previous experience is required to volunteer.

  • Education Volunteers receive basic training to help them feel more comfortable engaging the community in a friendly and knowledgeable way. They also receive training on caring for each ambassador animal.

What Does Volunteering Look Like?

Ambassador Animal Care

Our educational ambassador animals help us teach the community about local species. Education Volunteers are responsible for their daily care and training, helping to ensure they are ready for their next program, or to meet someone new!

Programs and Events

Education is central to our mission, so Northern Colorado Wildlife Center attends and hosts multiple programs and community outreach events each month. These programs range from school visits to festivals and even birthday parties! Education Volunteers help us to connect with our community and engage a diverse set of people through wildlife and environmental education.

Classes

Northern Colorado Wildlife Center offers classes and trainings to community members, clubs and groups, and our own volunteers that teach and inspire. Education Volunteers may help in the planning, teaching, and management of these classes, and can even choose to host their own!
