Colorado Reptiles

All together, over 70 different species of reptiles can be found living in Colorado! Reptiles include lizards, turtles, and snakes and these animals are all ectothermic meaning they can not regulate their own body temperature. The fact that these animals rely on warm environments is why the majority of Colorado reptiles are found in the plains and foothills. This is also why reptiles hibernate in the fall and winter seasons.
